Five people arrested for THC, marijuana distribution in Texas

On Sept. 23, Texas authorities announced the arrests of five people for allegedly distributing marijuana and THC products in central Texas. The arrests, which took place in August and September, were the culmination of an investigation by the Bell County Sheriff's Office.

According to media reports, investigators from the Bell County Organized Crime Unit confiscated a total of more than 1,100 grams of THC products, over 220 THC vape cartridges, over 7.5 pounds of high-grade marijuana, approximately $4,700 in cash and two firearms, one of which was stolen, from the defendants.

Two of the defendants, a 34-year-old male from Copperas Cove and a 34-year-old male from Austin, have been charged with possession of a controlled substance in an amount less than 400 grams. It is not known what jail they were taken to. Two other defendants, a 17-year-old male from Harker Heights and an 18-year-old male from Killeen, have been charged with possession of a controlled substance in an amount more than 400 grams. They were each taken to the Bell County Jail and held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. The 17-year-old has been additionally charged with resisting arrest and held on a $2,500 bond. The fifth defendant, a 27-year-old male from Copperas Cove, has been charged with possession of marijuana in an amount more than 5 pounds. He was also wanted for outstanding warrants. He was transported to the Bell County Jail and held on $39,000 in bonds.

A conviction on a drug charge can lead to serious consequences in Texas, including incarceration, heavy fines and a permanent criminal record. As a result, it may be prudent for people who find themselves in this position to meet with a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible so that a strategy to combat the allegations can be constructed.
