Alex J. Scharff

Alex J. Scharff

San Antonio, Texas
Alex was born in Corpus Christi, TX, where, after living in California, Oregon, and other places around America, (due to his father being a Captain in the United States Air Force), he lived until moving to San Antonio, TX. He was an avid skateboarder and star Little League baseball pitcher growing up with his Mom, Dad, and brother Matt. He graduated cum laude from Winston Churchill High School in 1984, where he played baseball, but found his interests were more geared towards speech, drama and debate, where he starred in many plays and won many trophies in speech and debate competitions. He then graduated cum laude from St. Mary's University in 1988, with a B.A. in Political Science with a philosophy minor. There, he was a member of the Young Democrats. He then completed law school at St. Mary's Law School in 1991. While attending law school, Alex and his partner won two mock trial competitions and completed in the quarterfinals of the National Competition in 1989 and 1990. After law school, Alex turned down a job offer to work for the Harris County District Attorney's Office and instead began working as a trial and appellate attorney in State and Federal Courts for the law offices of Campion and Campion in 1991. He practiced in counties all over Texas, from Gainesville to Brownsville, from El Paso to Texarkana. He has practiced in federal courts in New York City, Miami, Tampa, Nashville, Memphis, Dallas, Lubbock, Texarkana, Marshall, Tyler, Houston, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Del Rio, Austin, and San Antonio. He has argued appeals in the San Antonio Court of Appeals, the Corpus Christi Court of Appeals, The Fort Worth Court of Appeals as well as in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Moreover, for the National law firm Imhoff and Associates, Alex is the head Texas lawyer and Resident Partner. He performs pro bono work for the Community Justice Program of the San Antonio Bar Association. He is also a member of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. As a board member for the Texas State Bar's Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers and active in the Texas Lawyers Assistance Program, Alex helps other lawyers who have problems with drugs and alcohol abuse.
